Hypernovae and their Nucleosynthesis
نویسندگان
چکیده
We review the characteristics of nucleosynthesis in ’Hypernovae’, i.e., corecollapse supernovae with very large explosion energies ( ∼ > 10 ergs). The hypernova yields show the following characteristics: 1) The mass ratio between the complete and incomplete Si burning regions is larger in hypernovae than normal supernovae. As a result, higher energy explosions tend to produce larger [(Zn, Co, V)/Fe] and smaller [(Mn, Cr)/Fe], which could explain the trend observed in very metal-poor stars. 2) Because of enhanced α-rich freezeout, Ca, Ti, and Zn are produced more abundantly than in normal supernovae. The large [(Ti, Zn)/Fe] ratios observed in very metal poor stars strongly suggest a significant contribution of hypernovae. 3) Oxygen burning takes place in more extended regions in hypernovae to synthesize a larger amount of Si, S, Ar, and Ca (”Si”), which makes the ”Si”/O ratio larger. The abundance pattern of the starburst galaxy M82 may be attributed to hypernova explosions. We thus suggest that hypernovae make important contribution to the early Galactic (and cosmic) chemical evolution.

Nucleosynthesis Yields of Core-Collapse Supernovae and Hypernovae, and Galactic Chemical Evolution
We present new nucleosynthesis yields as functions of the stellar mass, metallicity, and explosion energy (corresponding to normal supernovae and Hypernovae). We apply the results to the chemical evolution of the solar neighborhood. Our new yields are based on the new developments in the observational/theoretical studies of supernovae (SNe) and extremely metal-poor (EMP) stars in the halo, whic...

We study nucleosynthesis in ’hypernovae’, i.e., supernovae with very large explosion energies ( ∼ > 10 ergs) for both spherical and aspherical explosions. The hypernova yields compared to those of ordinary corecollapse supernovae show the following characteristics: 1) Complete Siburning takes place in more extended region, so that the mass ratio between the complete and incomplete Si burning re...
متن کاملNucleosynthesis in Black-Hole-Forming Supernovae and Abundance Patterns of Extremely Metal-Poor Stars
Stars more massive than ∼ 20 25 M⊙ form a black hole at the end of their evolution. Stars with non-rotating black holes are likely to collapse "quietly" ejecting a small amount of heavy elements (Faint supernovae). In contrast, stars with rotating black holes are likely to give rise to very energetic supernovae (Hypernovae). We present distinct nucleosynthesis features of these two types of "bl...

متن کاملNucleosynthesis in Core-Collapse Supernovae and GRB–Metal-Poor Star Connection
We review the nucleosynthesis yields of core-collapse supernovae (SNe) for various stellar masses, explosion energies, and metallicities. Comparison with the abundance patterns of metalpoor stars provides excellent opportunities to test the explosion models and their nucleosynthesis. We show that the abundance patterns of extremely metal-poor (EMP) stars, e.g., the excess of C, Co, Zn relative ...
